You can read about that here <a href="http://hilldaleworship.blogspot.com/2016/12/psalm-challenge-2017.html" target="_blank">Psalm Challenge</a><br />
<br />
A few years ago a friend told me about an artist that is painting his way through the Psalms. His paintings are beautiful. (I'll see if I can find that info again and I'll share it here.) Many of his paintings are abstract and he would probably need to explain why a particular Psalm is represented in that particular painting. But I really like the idea. I would LOVE to paint something each day for whatever Psalm I've read that day. but realistically I know that it will be extremely difficult to paint something every day.<br />
<br />
But I AM going to try to paint something every week - something inspired by one of the Psalms that I've read that week.<br />
<br />
So I'm not challenging myself to a Psalm a Day painting, but I am going to try a Psalm a Week painting. I'm sure that encouraging words from my friends will help me meet this challenge. :-) Hmmmm, maybe some little ACEOs would make it possible for more than one painting a week.<br />
"What is an ACEO?" you may ask. From Google "<b style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">ACEO</b><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"> stands for Art Card Originals and Editions. They are kissin' cousins of ATC's or Art Trading Cards. Both are by definition cards of artwork measuring 2.5 x 3.5 inches, the same as a standard playing card."</span><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ebay.com/gds/So-whats-an-ACEO-For-the-art-collector-in-all-of-us-/10000000002346954/g.html" target="_blank">Ebay's take on ACEOs</a><br />

<br />
I painted this picture to put in an art auction to raise money for missions. But after I finished it I decided that I should give it to Cheryl since she likes yellow roses so much.<br />
<br />
I thought I had some pictures of the work in progress to put on here, but I don't see them on my computer. So I'll just put up the finished product.<br />
<br />
It's acrylic on 16x20 canvas.<br />

I don't like putting titles on abstract art. I think that limits others' interpretations. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I say that now because of this painting.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWAVXCfZRhiu_VAGiRUxxhPSqt6lb4sSFpH_gutIFdVsF8qQKTBF_pMIiKmnqT3S6XI3OEwp8axD_lSmI5eWAXsM1vhGexHtfIkvb4uHtHPuYilHVI95jsvl0BbZFiNdAHYPGdxiYjPD53/s1600/20160406_160007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWAVXCfZRhiu_VAGiRUxxhPSqt6lb4sSFpH_gutIFdVsF8qQKTBF_pMIiKmnqT3S6XI3OEwp8axD_lSmI5eWAXsM1vhGexHtfIkvb4uHtHPuYilHVI95jsvl0BbZFiNdAHYPGdxiYjPD53/s320/20160406_160007.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've had several people tell me what they think it is: a black hole, a galaxy, a solar system, a whirlpool in the mud, the pull of sin.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And then they say, "What is it?" and expect me to tell them if they were right or if I had some other idea behind it. I think they would be very disappointed to know that sometimes a person just creates art and that there isn't a definitive answer of "what" it is.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But they say that art - good art - elicits a response from its viewers. I personally don't care what you decide this painting represents as long as you like it and spend a little time studying it. It can have some very deep meanings. :-)</div>

I don't think that you can tell from the pictures, but there are three or four different kinds of gold paint on it. Some of the gold is a glaze that only shows when you look at it from the side instead of straight on. It's one of the things I like about it. </div>

<br />
Here is the painting I posted with that question yesterday.<br />
<br />

Some are very clever or insightful - others, not so much. It's interesting that some are very concrete "elephant" while others are more, well, abstract. Ha!<br />
<br />
<br />
One person "shared" my painting on her timeline and wrote this.<br />
"<span style="background-color: white; color: #141823; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.32px;">Genesis. Because it seems to be the beginning of a beautiful event or series... of paintings. ?</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #141823; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.32px;">This image leads me to see a sequence of paintings, each one more defined and less subtle than the previous..."</span>Which received these responses.<br />
<span style="background-color: #f6f7f8; color: #141823; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 16.08px;">that's good....</span><br />

<br />
Well, actually, the black is red and green and blue and more mixed together to make black.<br />
<br />
The leaves are made of blues, greens and purples but are lost in the background if the light is too low. That's on purpose. The stars of the show are the beautiful poppies.<br />

<br />
I'm not doing encaustic painting in the traditional sense as described on wikipedia <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Encaustic_painting" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Encaustic_painting</a> but I call it encaustic because that sounds so much more artistic to me than "Yep. I melted crayons with an pink embosser that I bought at Hobby Lobby." (Disclaimer: pink was the only color they had the day I was at Hobby Lobby to buy the embosser.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSryINXODy-o3umCDkNKNezyBlA3D1Dr_DMIJbdb5Sh9rkx3GkOoiqBIsBFA7jJKhXs8a7TBfqswL64VhvRigIZIswMSXSLrxfWs8lpsQFzgGZd2Wzpi62MyAkG6yXVAVmj1zoM8z9vQ_q/s1600/10420115_10152875150713292_5279324346989378528_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSryINXODy-o3umCDkNKNezyBlA3D1Dr_DMIJbdb5Sh9rkx3GkOoiqBIsBFA7jJKhXs8a7TBfqswL64VhvRigIZIswMSXSLrxfWs8lpsQFzgGZd2Wzpi62MyAkG6yXVAVmj1zoM8z9vQ_q/s1600/10420115_10152875150713292_5279324346989378528_n.jpg" height="256" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
For this painting I started with an art board that had been painted black years ago. I added more black, purple and blue to the background to give it some depth and to make it a little moreinteresting in the light. You can't see anything but black form this photo.<br />
<br />
The tree trunks and branches and the ground were all painted with acrylic paint. I had a little white moon at first but then decided it needed a big moon. The moon is white and yellow and was painted with thick acrylic paint so it has a lot of texture.<br />
<br />
The leaves for the tree were the fun part. I chose several shades of yellow, orange and red and melted them with the embosser. The fun part is watching the melted wax swirl together and form interesting shapes and color combinations. The artist has a little control over where and how much wax to put in a particular spot, but a lot of the process is chance. It is guided chance, but chance none the less.<br />
<br />
I'll have this painting in Hilldale's Art for Missions Silent Auction at the end of March.<div class="blogger-post-footer">Don't forget to check out my Esty store. www.bearhollowcreations.etsy.com</div>R Lyndel Littletonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15699730038752877783noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6041493147769568650.post-73426824645529353902015-01-25T21:42:00.001-06:002015-01-25T21:42:30.305-06:00Abstract Painting - Melted Crayon<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My newest painting is melted wax crayons on canvas paper mounted to cardboard.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I suppose you could call it an encaustic painting, technically encaustic paintings are made with melted colored bees wax, not melted crayons. But encaustic sound so much more artistic. lol</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had the dining room in mind as I was creating this painting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The room is painted in and decorated in whites and golds.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There's a small space between the kitchen door and the entry hall door that seemed like the perfect place for a painting like this.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Do paintings need names? I don't know.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
for right now this one does not have a name. Maybe you can suggest one in a comment.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But actually, that's the cool thing about abstract art is that it says different things to different people, so I guess giving it a name takes that away to some extent. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I may not ever name it now that I've thought about it.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I didn't know how to sign the painting. I tried painting my name with acrylic paint. It just slid around on the wax. I tried writing with a sharp crayon. Bad idea.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I scratched my name in the wax with a sharp pencil and then filled in the scratched part with gold paint. I'm happy with how it turned out. </div>

<br />
<br />
Over the years I've slowly gathered up restaurant crayons. It seems like a small thing, but I hated seeing perfectly good crayons headed for the trash after a short use on a Red Lobster children's menu. So as the rest of the family gathered their things I walk around the table and gather the barely used crayons.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5wElnMkEB3nigo_2QsV-ZP5VMyfZSsgvb2BCfv_cGjoeFYruTFg5du8_0bXsjETM0fdnE1aVdS39xpd7kVbXhSh0stHikpwMSLuYkURGJ96IMdrmSteUVpq93lZqjVaY7eL-ydP_q7LGR/s1600/red+tree+crayons+up+close.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5wElnMkEB3nigo_2QsV-ZP5VMyfZSsgvb2BCfv_cGjoeFYruTFg5du8_0bXsjETM0fdnE1aVdS39xpd7kVbXhSh0stHikpwMSLuYkURGJ96IMdrmSteUVpq93lZqjVaY7eL-ydP_q7LGR/s1600/red+tree+crayons+up+close.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Once home they would usually spend time in my closet next to my billfold, but eventually they would end up with all of the crayons I had rescued from boxes and restaurants and various children. I always thought that one day I would sort them in this nice "Lazy Susan" we got from Cheryl's Granny Kay. (I doubt that will ever really happen. It kind of takes the fun out of searching for just the right crayon.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAxIyLDiAzX_ig2qafgWWSG__sHD_DJVIIyMQzPnRezMbnboCSUF3jp5BTT_n3IzmUlqgpym4yFkVjDulLP3pKMxKnRbtPRdADv0EHxfqpHVabvkKqHJ8jYdDE0XWblBLPb1u88S5kvpsu/s1600/red+tree+crayons.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAxIyLDiAzX_ig2qafgWWSG__sHD_DJVIIyMQzPnRezMbnboCSUF3jp5BTT_n3IzmUlqgpym4yFkVjDulLP3pKMxKnRbtPRdADv0EHxfqpHVabvkKqHJ8jYdDE0XWblBLPb1u88S5kvpsu/s1600/red+tree+crayons.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
A fun thing to do with used broken crayons is to make BIG multi-colored crayons out of them. You take the paper off of them, break them up where they will fit in a muffin tin, heat up the oven (not too hot) and then let them melt. Stir the melted was a little after they melt or you'll end up with clear wax on the top and color on the bottom. After they cool (duh) pop them out and you have cool discs of color for your kiddos. They are great for making rubbings. (You know - where you lay a piece of paper on a rough surface and then rub the crayon over it....)<br />
<br />
About a year ago I saw something new to try with crayons. Crayola made some crayons to use in making melted crayon paintings. I bought some canvas boards and my daughter, Christy, and I tried to paint with a hair dryer, using it to melt the crayons. It sort of worked, but we weren't happy with the process. The hair dryer melted the wax, but it blew so hard there was little you could do to control where the wax went.<br />
<br />
A couple of months ago I saw an acrylic painting that inspired me to try a new way to paint with crayons. I new that a hair dryer blew too hard and made the melted wax spray across the canvas, so I bought an embossing heater. A heat gun would have been good. I would show you a picture of it, but the only one they had at Hobby Lobby was pink and I don't want you to know that I have a pink embosser. :-)<br />
<br />
OK. This has been way too long of an introduction. Here's what I want to show you. How you can make your own really cool fall colored tree using melted crayons...<br />
<br />
First, I painted the sky, the ground and the trunk of a tree using acrylic paints.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoj7TOiLuP1S2fPLt1fBUDrbqf61c5L7MTd-DyXJ6NQ2bjJgaUNt5Z-dx1jBF-kndBqN3szMbCM6Ud1YuWlTmzZFtNWxGBfcsgTQok3ND6GyITBCucjv3_vVQqtzL0pIpqPAjKhUrwQ2ui/s1600/red+tree+first+drops.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoj7TOiLuP1S2fPLt1fBUDrbqf61c5L7MTd-DyXJ6NQ2bjJgaUNt5Z-dx1jBF-kndBqN3szMbCM6Ud1YuWlTmzZFtNWxGBfcsgTQok3ND6GyITBCucjv3_vVQqtzL0pIpqPAjKhUrwQ2ui/s1600/red+tree+first+drops.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I then took a lot of different red crayons from different restaurants and boxes and tested melting them to see what shade of red they made when melted. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMPDqWNX45Z1Xz455Qo_kDxJ2ZQbF5lpoB8TG1LWScDjQJ79sux9rDnacpU8cW3ctJNzOvrU2dUs0bAz0_0lqVMDLypD_5vhDq-gbZZkdDoB4EdL3KxGHXqnKDRero3ry5fZiK3XJmTiIR/s1600/red+tree+crayon+drips.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMPDqWNX45Z1Xz455Qo_kDxJ2ZQbF5lpoB8TG1LWScDjQJ79sux9rDnacpU8cW3ctJNzOvrU2dUs0bAz0_0lqVMDLypD_5vhDq-gbZZkdDoB4EdL3KxGHXqnKDRero3ry5fZiK3XJmTiIR/s1600/red+tree+crayon+drips.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then I held a darker red crayon in my hand and heated it up with the embosser and I let the wax drip onto the canvas board.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcqh6w_wXWmOQQVosI-nfQrBuxgYDmvE5ZtcHvWJUujOB55B_XiEAywbVrKxS3kCi-lNVOvIbiDV20kALGEe81eRVXZtwGIairiBzNX3GWY53GnKwQITF2t6jQRiKzubdlPuVj0_FFqrv8/s1600/red+tree+complete.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcqh6w_wXWmOQQVosI-nfQrBuxgYDmvE5ZtcHvWJUujOB55B_XiEAywbVrKxS3kCi-lNVOvIbiDV20kALGEe81eRVXZtwGIairiBzNX3GWY53GnKwQITF2t6jQRiKzubdlPuVj0_FFqrv8/s1600/red+tree+complete.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a>I added layers of different shades of red, melted away parts where I thought it was too full and ended up with this.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's a close up. I like the way the wax would splatter when I held the crayons further away.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPj7LdbdQhtGvX5rARjgkdEagyOUzdHUucdOCr9WW-jMsqdOcyL-gnz-ZwpDSt5UbKlaDj3IYXG1Vt3bFtUTdCNzVJm5BbgjCEWdoooLspFP3VTUFicwoi7aKrRTaf1HmMAKxMQzt1qche/s1600/red+tree+closeup.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPj7LdbdQhtGvX5rARjgkdEagyOUzdHUucdOCr9WW-jMsqdOcyL-gnz-ZwpDSt5UbKlaDj3IYXG1Vt3bFtUTdCNzVJm5BbgjCEWdoooLspFP3VTUFicwoi7aKrRTaf1HmMAKxMQzt1qche/s1600/red+tree+closeup.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>

The reds seemed a little too much and I needed some highlights, so I added a little orange to it.<br />
<br />
Now my red tree is in a silent auction for missions. The money raised is helping some of our High School students go to Buenos Aires, Argentina on a mission trip at the end of June into July.<br />
<br />
Here it is on the auction table. It is 16x20, acrylic and wax on canvas board. It has a nice wooden frame that really sets it off don't you think?<br />

<br />
You can bid on this painting by calling Hilldale's Family Life Center. As of this writing today, the current bid is $150. The auction ends May 9.<br />

It isn't a family tree in that grandma and grandpa are at the bottom and then mom and dad and aunts and uncles on the first branches and then all the children on the next, but it is a beautiful tree for showing off grandbaby pictures.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I don't claim to be a great interpreter of art, but I've found it interesting to see how others interpret art. I recently posted this picture on FaceBook. I said I hadn't thought of a name for it and wondered what others would name it. <br />
That's where I saw how others interpreted my painting.
<br />
<br />
Here are some of the names people suggested.<br />
Werewolf's Dream<br />
God's Handiwork<br />
Moon<br />
Moon Dance<br />
God's Promise<br />
Blue Moon<br />
God's Eye<br />
Dream Time<br />
Days Ahead<br />
<br />
So what was my original thought?<br />
I suppose it doesn't matter and ideally, a painting should allow you to put your thoughts into it.<br />
OK. So I'll tell you.<br />
It was a sunrise with the sun cutting through the morning fog. Oh well. I suppose it looks a lot like a moon.<div class="blogger-post-footer">Don't forget to check out my Esty store. www.bearhollowcreations.etsy.com</div>R Lyndel Littletonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15699730038752877783noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6041493147769568650.post-76391953848050703232012-01-09T19:22:00.001-06:002012-01-09T19:22:13.575-06:00Hydrangeas in an Orange VaseWow! A bold splash of color can perk up any room and "Hydrangeas in an Orange Vase" has tons of color.<br />
<br />
<br />
The juxtaposition of colors directly across from each other on the color wheel give this painting a big WOW factor. Does your mother-in-law's house depress you every time you walk through the door (and I'm just kidding about all of this) then this painting would be the perfect gift for her since it will bring a smile to your face and brighten your day every time you see it. <br />
<br />
Here it is in my kitchen. (Yes. I hand-painted polka-dots on the walls.) It looks great here, but will look good on your walls too.<br />

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I started this painting MANY months ago - from what I can tell looking at pictures on my phone it was between a big snow in December or January and the time I planted potatoes. So... maybe February?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's how this painting began.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.blogger.com/goog_1157314279" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgF9OMWdF7V0I0mK9-1rTrNNc5SGdkIJdKiCYa3FGs8LHrOAV-3baJ42pisMCwNE0wHF1A8awiEyXKIL96OGmFzzXn_NY8egIiWcAOdJisbrtc0eqZS0eMWu-JMx-n8a38pjlRZNjLfEoA/s320/before+the+barn.PNG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was my inspiration photo. Yes. That's MY backyard. I know you're jealous. haha</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.blogger.com/goog_1157314279" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcIWLqgmcf6XgK6ZknF8qtOkp2AjGaUjuqkDGS7pUaSiE7nRh7Pm_0b1KrJAtWjCNn8dcCTx6aeUuAsyWU68eGIEvaGyV0XFR0fkbJf9bB8DjogQ4VJOWAnn3qCF5aIprf9E8FTL5druI/s320/photo+of+barn.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The painting sat like that for a very long time. Then I added the barn.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Later I added the pond and then this week decided the barn needed to be a little cabin in the woods providing shelter from the winter storm.</div>

I posted about it on my church blog, but thought I should post about it here on my art blog.<br />
<br />
There are some places around here that do this sort of thing all the time. That's where we got the idea. Only since this was a church deal to raise some money for a mission team going to Portugal the money goes to missions rather than the teacher. <br />
<br />
I had LOTS of fun teaching and I have heard from several of them saying they want us to do this all of the time.<br />
<br />
Here's how it worked.<br />
<br />
I painted a picture to use as a model and to help advertise. It's 16x20 gallery wrapped canvas painted with acrylic paint. I didn't use my nice thick acrylic paints because I wanted to use the same paint they would be using (and it had already been purchased by someone else for another project). I was still pleased with how it turned out.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjitlZcGbKvOVvI9JaNsw-1fePrEq62o7DPqB4EH_PCdtoj6MeZEETc4hISJkmcHovgA7VxHrptDTP3ySwJXlvfrB4phZ7689-pDmJc691mLtSpq82tWYY5RgUIeeZiHFpzTeyuNadj37M/s1600/original.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" qaa="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjitlZcGbKvOVvI9JaNsw-1fePrEq62o7DPqB4EH_PCdtoj6MeZEETc4hISJkmcHovgA7VxHrptDTP3ySwJXlvfrB4phZ7689-pDmJc691mLtSpq82tWYY5RgUIeeZiHFpzTeyuNadj37M/s320/original.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />

There's not really a "secret" to it. There is a simple way to figure out how to get a big POP in color in your paintings. Look at a color wheel. Using colors that are across the wheel from each other add excitement, pizazz, drama and interest to your painting. In some paintings you'll want a lot of color splash and vibrancy so you'll have many places on the canvas where colors opposite each other on the wheel are right next to each other. If you want a painting that is calmer, more peaceful and relaxing then you'll keep your big contrasting colors away from each other or use them in smaller doses.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2gg7r_ZyJh4gcWYoRrrGLP4EmtuXab7-TQcqU-HAf8Vw9pxTLgVPfOCBAJ8XjOD0Rrjt7aKJG11juNO4P3cYl80gPoYYED9rxATR0xhZ_nfHFTlAHHHn9gF7c_6IPOxYd4Hgjo6h-6b0/s1600/colorwheel1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2gg7r_ZyJh4gcWYoRrrGLP4EmtuXab7-TQcqU-HAf8Vw9pxTLgVPfOCBAJ8XjOD0Rrjt7aKJG11juNO4P3cYl80gPoYYED9rxATR0xhZ_nfHFTlAHHHn9gF7c_6IPOxYd4Hgjo6h-6b0/s320/colorwheel1.jpg" t$="true" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Colors opposite each other on the color wheel add the most exciting contrast when they are next to each other in your painting.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I just painted "Hydrangeas in an Orange Vase" this week. It will be a model for a group of mostly non-painters who will all get together for a painting "lesson." I wanted a painting with a lot of "woohoo here we go" in the color, so you'll notice that the background is violet and yellow (opposites on the wheel) and the blue flowers are contrasted with the orange vase (also right across the wheel from each other.)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNcLRKQErlhIYjCbbU2WK57nMU_ZOGoG7rKhTdfkA97n8djkX7CddzgxZ2gMhoSlxsonJ6zY1QGkNmLYmt1zxuv58sVbuwoB2pccm6oBkhCUL4cZu_cVWJN2Sj9JUAA0WboIbNEJlpQUI/s1600/hydrangeas+in+an+orange+vase.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNcLRKQErlhIYjCbbU2WK57nMU_ZOGoG7rKhTdfkA97n8djkX7CddzgxZ2gMhoSlxsonJ6zY1QGkNmLYmt1zxuv58sVbuwoB2pccm6oBkhCUL4cZu_cVWJN2Sj9JUAA0WboIbNEJlpQUI/s320/hydrangeas+in+an+orange+vase.JPG" t$="true" width="239" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">There are places around here - and possibly around the country, but I don't know about other places - where you go and spend a couple of hours painting. The instructor gives directions and demonstrates for the attendees step by step instructions where they can create a painting that is very similar to the sample.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">On August 7, at 4:00 at Hilldale's Family Life Center, I'll be teaching those who come how to paint a picture that will end up looking a whole lot like this painting.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
If you want a calmer version of this same painting you can do that too. You'll just need to use colors in the background that are close to each other on the wheel. The vase could be a different shade of blue or maybe a purple or green (close to blue on the wheel.) You'll still have a beautiful painting it just won't make your eyes pop out like this one does.</div><div class="blogger-post-footer">Don't forget to check out my Esty store. www.bearhollowcreations.etsy.com</div>R Lyndel Littletonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07056006111378514715noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6041493147769568650.post-15027227576201994872011-04-06T13:41:00.000-05:002011-04-06T13:41:25.264-05:00Neglected BlogOh wow! I just saw that my last post here was a year ago! It's been very difficult to post because I haven't had an Internet connection at home and haven't wanted to take work time to post something. <br />
<br />
We now have Internet at home, thanks to AT&T and a DSL line. I hope it works OK. I've never really heard rave reviews about DSL but of course it's the cable people who talk bad about DSL. All I know is it can't be worse than DISH Internet where if a fluffy cloud goes by you lose your signal. (That may be a slight exaggeration but it really is a bad way to get Internet.)<br />
<br />
So over the next few days I hope to catch up a little on my "art" blogging. I suppose another good idea would be to create some new art to put on here. The art I've been doing lately is walls at home. I guess that will be my next post.<div class="blogger-post-footer">Don't forget to check out my Esty store. www.bearhollowcreations.etsy.com</div>R Lyndel Littletonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07056006111378514715noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6041493147769568650.post-68138464145711784152010-04-21T06:51:00.000-05:002010-04-21T06:51:48.043-05:00New Piano Keys ACEOs<div style="text-align: center;">This is the third set of Piano Keys ACEOs that I've made. </div><div style="text-align: center;">I do the background differently each time, but the concept and the process has been the same. </div><div style="text-align: center;">They are fun to make and people like to collect them, so I made another set last weekend.</div><br />

(Keep reading to see how you can get a print of this painting.)<br />
<br />
The title of this year's Passion Play was "The Road to Emmaus." It's the story of two men traveling from Jerusalem to a town seven miles away called Emmaus on the day of Christ's resurrection. As they are traveling Jesus joins them and the three of them walk to Emmaus. <br />
<br />
My Administrative Assistant at church and our Publications Assistant spent a lot of time before our Passion Play looking for just the right graphic to use for advertising and for our program cover. I looked at some of the art sites too.<br />
<br />
One of the pictures that we liked was a painting. It was close, but not quite what I wanted. So Donna, my Administrative Assistant said, "Just paint it yourself." <br />
<br />
So I took an idea from the painting and then chnged it up to how I wanted it to look. Here's what I ended up with. It is a 9x12 acrylic painting on archival quality canvas.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0ssXTcyCeN_vSHGmo_oI_jzVgLQWKmDQE2LGq4fTRder-5qF7I85a2PrR-kKzUMW6Q1sfu1DA6aNb3f4LOECjzFUT4MkZACxT5WZATaG7wVYgEiV1Q_iN3ir6vDNPcA4pULGVDLxDhX0/s1600/journey+to+emmaus.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0ssXTcyCeN_vSHGmo_oI_jzVgLQWKmDQE2LGq4fTRder-5qF7I85a2PrR-kKzUMW6Q1sfu1DA6aNb3f4LOECjzFUT4MkZACxT5WZATaG7wVYgEiV1Q_iN3ir6vDNPcA4pULGVDLxDhX0/s400/journey+to+emmaus.jpg" width="400" wt="true" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">As the men came to Emmaus it was getting close to time for the evening meal. The painting shows this not only from the setting sun, but from them men almost stepping off the edge of the paintint. They are almost to their destination.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">For centuries painters Jesus Christ and then also "saints" were with a halo around them so you could tell who was who. (Or is that who was whom?)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Anyway, I didn't want to paint an actual halo, but you see how the sun light is shining around the head of the man in the middle - who is Jesus.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Julie did a great job turning it into tickets, advertising posters and the cover of the program. (She always does a fantastic job.)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The picture is hanging up in my office.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI2XYUGdcE7CdITidXVe7fcDchRj6GGzI8Bk3QDDi2zqp4VykmOe1G60qjlar7E9aEWmQJVzijI3k9c-XHfZkl7_ZdEZKX_n4m1gR6lS5j08bCqB2SgiZjUnFlE9YBOaiGnM1P2FI7NCc/s1600/25649_365353788291_224189463291_3650959_5811344_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI2XYUGdcE7CdITidXVe7fcDchRj6GGzI8Bk3QDDi2zqp4VykmOe1G60qjlar7E9aEWmQJVzijI3k9c-XHfZkl7_ZdEZKX_n4m1gR6lS5j08bCqB2SgiZjUnFlE9YBOaiGnM1P2FI7NCc/s320/25649_365353788291_224189463291_3650959_5811344_n.jpg" wt="true" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">One of the ladies in the choir told me that I should make prints and sign and number them. Several others said they wanted a print too, so this next week we are going to print some on a nice heavy paper and I will sign and number them.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I may put one of the prints up in my Etsy shop. For our church members and my facebook fans I'm not going to set a price. I am just going to ask for a donation to our music/worship ministry. We'll use the money to go toward fancy new lights or other equipment we might need or want for next year's Passion Play.<br />
<br />
Leave me a message on my facebook art page (or see me in choir Wednesday night) if you'd like one of the prints. If you're not already a fan notice the link right over there on the rightof this page and click on it to become a fan. How easy is that?<div class="blogger-post-footer">Don't forget to check out my Esty store. www.bearhollowcreations.etsy.com</div>R Lyndel Littletonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07056006111378514715noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6041493147769568650.post-44696342693173256552010-01-28T11:36:00.000-06:002010-01-28T11:36:43.944-06:00Stained-glass CrossesWe had a great time in my stained-glass class making little panels of a cross.<br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">There are several steps in creating a stained-glass piece. There are also many tools required.<br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6u8wV-_XpGnUsVpIUsnehdY75sAh6GIid8_hz_ec7Jd0j-K4SxoYZbGYTRf-RtsEPZrhjUszQlmIDxGzYGwwn18KzLklywb2ocjKfVP-j-9RK_1EaHX-VQaO5X0FON17PNNHsOhf5MrE/s1600-h/DSC08527.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6u8wV-_XpGnUsVpIUsnehdY75sAh6GIid8_hz_ec7Jd0j-K4SxoYZbGYTRf-RtsEPZrhjUszQlmIDxGzYGwwn18KzLklywb2ocjKfVP-j-9RK_1EaHX-VQaO5X0FON17PNNHsOhf5MrE/s320/DSC08527.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">First, you choose the pattern, copy it, and cut out one of the copies to use as a pattern.<br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">After tracing around the pattern onto your glass, you cut the glass with a glass cutter.<br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaDXUnxaqPr7HNIWG1UsrBPgS_GS6MuRQF8LuL3NCoVLeVT5Hs6sWMYP2ndX9xq1jO83ZgAEka6NluJZpchkZWqTdhFrpQ_w7u1tWIRZX85lq2Kxv4_RSiHbpSFDaIoJNM_bHBeKCj_OY/s1600-h/DSC08503.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaDXUnxaqPr7HNIWG1UsrBPgS_GS6MuRQF8LuL3NCoVLeVT5Hs6sWMYP2ndX9xq1jO83ZgAEka6NluJZpchkZWqTdhFrpQ_w7u1tWIRZX85lq2Kxv4_RSiHbpSFDaIoJNM_bHBeKCj_OY/s320/DSC08503.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">You leave a little space for the lead, so cut your glass INSIDE the line you drew. Each piece of glass needs to be the EXACT size of the pattern. Too big and it won't fit. It will push the other pieces out too far or just won't go in at all. Too small and you'll have a gap in your finished piece. <br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">You put your glass together on a board that has two boards on top at a right angle. You use these boards to push against as you put the pieces of glass in place. The pattern is there so you know where everything goes.<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjns38xpoRLh439EgQlm2HuGjnGCnJqWdVSYtFq0SWZOol443MyXDJnnzugDAeAKn3u5E1gGitajOnnvesc1Dh8Z3vwFXsSbD7NWppZeqkkxngncPRBzR8ATzJTKCHK3NRkEOn1YgvJ3ew/s1600-h/DSC08526.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjns38xpoRLh439EgQlm2HuGjnGCnJqWdVSYtFq0SWZOol443MyXDJnnzugDAeAKn3u5E1gGitajOnnvesc1Dh8Z3vwFXsSbD7NWppZeqkkxngncPRBzR8ATzJTKCHK3NRkEOn1YgvJ3ew/s320/DSC08526.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">The outside of the panel is zinc. Lead stretches and is very soft, so it doesn't make a good border. We cut the zinc channels at a 45 degree angel.<br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Here is a piece with most of the glass in place. The nails are there to hold it together until after the solder is added. You put them in as you go along then move them when you are ready to put another piece in. This is especially important with curved pieces (in a different pattern) because they move around a lot when you put new pieces in.<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPctljXVXpUP-9-coWdhs1QcXMb4olz3EyIfOXLN5H31S5HxBY7uC0-6UGvIsB_jUmvYGROE_CkcN-xbbm3AxTF9WwVMyGXrwthcO4_YsuRUCtBn-h0PORA0aIoGABLBMSCBPHrRrIEmc/s1600-h/DSC08525.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPctljXVXpUP-9-coWdhs1QcXMb4olz3EyIfOXLN5H31S5HxBY7uC0-6UGvIsB_jUmvYGROE_CkcN-xbbm3AxTF9WwVMyGXrwthcO4_YsuRUCtBn-h0PORA0aIoGABLBMSCBPHrRrIEmc/s320/DSC08525.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">Here you can see that piece number 12 is the only one not in. We number the pieces so we are sure they go in the correct place. This is more important in a larger piece but is still helpful even in a small panel like these.<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSgIS_DKs0Po9C8v6FM2soUB4SdOQ16TXQ6gM87ePDBMsTKFDgsjr5rYMe9xIFk0jvV66CsBcQy7vQ5zccfc0kQQymlrqlbDT0dWeErEzuKiqWhXk-8C5zM9ohbi1ISJfcwmHJoMrcxjI/s1600-h/DSC08524.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSgIS_DKs0Po9C8v6FM2soUB4SdOQ16TXQ6gM87ePDBMsTKFDgsjr5rYMe9xIFk0jvV66CsBcQy7vQ5zccfc0kQQymlrqlbDT0dWeErEzuKiqWhXk-8C5zM9ohbi1ISJfcwmHJoMrcxjI/s320/DSC08524.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">After all the lead and pieces of glass are in you put some flux on each joint. 'The joints are where the lead meets up against another piece of lead. The solder won't stick to the lead unless you put flux on it. There's some sort of chemical reaction that you can google if you really need to know more about how that works.<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiofaOYr9z7dhPY4Fy1cgqIxCgUVEfxxrGTECLiz-QjGcNtXE3rxg0ZIDBhlPr1MWCFU6JnkE7PwwKSDk2bCIzDjMjN4uTCIuIFb-RqxEf2v9FKM9x2PwHnksMcmyISqiOtqW2F45oE4FM/s1600-h/19072_271000018291_224189463291_3355296_1233336_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiofaOYr9z7dhPY4Fy1cgqIxCgUVEfxxrGTECLiz-QjGcNtXE3rxg0ZIDBhlPr1MWCFU6JnkE7PwwKSDk2bCIzDjMjN4uTCIuIFb-RqxEf2v9FKM9x2PwHnksMcmyISqiOtqW2F45oE4FM/s320/19072_271000018291_224189463291_3355296_1233336_n.jpg" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">The soldering irons are REALLY hot, so make sure you only touch the handle. You use just enough solder to cover the joint. Go straight down and straight up for a pretty solder joint. DON'T Paint it on. Down and up - that's it. We wear masks because it's really not good to breath the flux fumes. For that matter, the lead is rather hazardous too! Please don't eat it.<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAr18hPa6zAPmok_6MsNk68yPbFGXGFiBa22KxNFNy8dpAJeGU0AVinJpSZ_MGrcmmHg1XgmfGZvYHo2eQtj6fVUjsec1vBV63Y9vPHlbk7913St6GeL4I4nee2NUmMNaGmZr9Ri4gDOc/s1600-h/19072_271000043291_224189463291_3355298_89549_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAr18hPa6zAPmok_6MsNk68yPbFGXGFiBa22KxNFNy8dpAJeGU0AVinJpSZ_MGrcmmHg1XgmfGZvYHo2eQtj6fVUjsec1vBV63Y9vPHlbk7913St6GeL4I4nee2NUmMNaGmZr9Ri4gDOc/s320/19072_271000043291_224189463291_3355298_89549_n.jpg" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">After all of your joints are soldered you remove your nails, flip the piece over and do the same thing to the other side.<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">After soldering it's good to wash off the flux just to make sure it doesn't keep reacting with the lead and make ugly spots. This may not be as necessary because when the piece is cleaned a little later that may take care of it, but this makes sure all the flux is gone.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDeE2S4xGKtai1WneyjLCgXd-L1v9TxDyXUNnoVZcjloV3I1AAQtsxRB-D5QQzr3h00f-TjVauz5xhyrtt1SkLL7kjMlm3B17kyKySFmlGMo66ieMdWN6d7f6SgjwYGPuKJHcX-qladZM/s1600-h/DSC08511.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDeE2S4xGKtai1WneyjLCgXd-L1v9TxDyXUNnoVZcjloV3I1AAQtsxRB-D5QQzr3h00f-TjVauz5xhyrtt1SkLL7kjMlm3B17kyKySFmlGMo66ieMdWN6d7f6SgjwYGPuKJHcX-qladZM/s320/DSC08511.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">The next step is called "mudding." The "mud" is actually window glazing like you would use on an old wooden window sash around the glass. The mud makes the window air-tight and water-tight and keeps the glass from rattling around in the lead.<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipCq2jB7XUBMu4l38oZdbUlAJxH_Ro-cmdaoZaRFBKI61Is8WoJ9kG84gr4KmCniGotBbuEvfg9TuWf7b6nMjRgZFjJYoiAP9ANGC-8ahmxnRbJkMD6wvOkIgJa1Cm-oQSpGv__5vhfMM/s1600-h/DSC08510.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipCq2jB7XUBMu4l38oZdbUlAJxH_Ro-cmdaoZaRFBKI61Is8WoJ9kG84gr4KmCniGotBbuEvfg9TuWf7b6nMjRgZFjJYoiAP9ANGC-8ahmxnRbJkMD6wvOkIgJa1Cm-oQSpGv__5vhfMM/s320/DSC08510.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">I'm not sure what "whiting" is, but it cleans up the glass and makes it shine beautifully and it dries up the mud. You sprinkle it on the glass then scrub it with a brush.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFZHmediDqiYp5-8D96t0H7wIoDKaexuWZLVcO65GqZEyk9rtpxYcbP6SeuF4nx_zS9CsTSv7mUSV0RUzolJkwa7DhKFtNz6TN_PR7iGCiJVPWUq2vlWKOZ_2eNJODk98ditihs3y7Pq8/s1600-h/DSC08513.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFZHmediDqiYp5-8D96t0H7wIoDKaexuWZLVcO65GqZEyk9rtpxYcbP6SeuF4nx_zS9CsTSv7mUSV0RUzolJkwa7DhKFtNz6TN_PR7iGCiJVPWUq2vlWKOZ_2eNJODk98ditihs3y7Pq8/s320/DSC08513.JPG" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioloO_f73ulsqDDzxgg3Be1ZhgoV_QGvqcIk-gEBr1KbOdDfEtjfsu7E33Akfd79yU01q6h-Euk0bIhy14_RBlaqA-lB533RFUJZKxzoCiPsKT-tvUQsCD81jsrLpLZQRcQZsm9w4N9rA/s1600-h/DSC08515.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioloO_f73ulsqDDzxgg3Be1ZhgoV_QGvqcIk-gEBr1KbOdDfEtjfsu7E33Akfd79yU01q6h-Euk0bIhy14_RBlaqA-lB533RFUJZKxzoCiPsKT-tvUQsCD81jsrLpLZQRcQZsm9w4N9rA/s320/DSC08515.JPG" /></a><br />

These are blogs from fellow artists who are a part of the VAST team on Etsy. VAST stands for Visual Artist Street Team. You'll find some great art and art information as well as some nice personal information about a lot of great artists by following the links. They are sorted by who posted last. Come back often and check the links to see the latest from the VAST team.<div class="blogger-post-footer">Don't forget to check out my Esty store. www.bearhollowcreations.etsy.com</div>R Lyndel Littletonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07056006111378514715noreply@blogger.com0
